Patchwork Quilt

Hello!

I hope you all had a great weekend....it really flew by...FAST!

For a while now I've been thinking about making my own Patchwork Quilt. I have an image in my head of how I want it to look like. I would like the colours to be soft pinks, creams and possibly light greens.

If you've been reading my blog for any length of time you would know that I really feel the cold. We were at a BBQ yesterday and I had the chills..I just can't avoid it!

I want this quilt to be used on summer evenings and to snuggle up on the sofa on Winter nights. I want my future babies to one day use it to play on. I want it to last a long long time and to used all the time.

So far I have found two fabrics I would like to use. I need to find a plain cream fabric plus two other patterned ones.

I have my eye on the fabric below....

It's a paisley pattern & I think it adds a 'fun floral' to the mix...plus it has such a lovely shade of green in the background.

Do you have an heirloom quilt in the family? Have you ever made a patchwork quilt?

Enjoy the rest of your Monday!

  1. I have been making a patchwork quilt for the past 2 years. My first mistake was making the squares too small, so I then added some different sizes into the equation. It is something I pick up and put down again as I tend to get bored working on the same big project for too long. I can't wait for it to be finished but I can't see that being any time soon. i'd say go for it though, it will be lovely once you have finished it and such a nice thing to pass down the family xxx

  2. You will enjoy making your own quilt I'm sure. If it is your first one try to find a design that isnt too complex and doesnt have too many triangles.
If you need advice, e mail me.
