Cake Bunting

The Giant cupcake for my sisters birthday turned out pretty well. To spruce it up a little I made this cute little bunting for it.

Simply cut little triangles of pretty fabric out, sew onto a colourful thread (spacing them out) and then tie the ends onto skewers.

Happy Friday!

Show and Tell of pretty things...

I thought I'd share a few things I have bought / can't stop looking at recently.

I love the look of bunting and would love to make some, but it can be really expensive if you don't have the scraps of fabric (surprisingly I don't!). I managed to score this really cute heart bunting from Sainsburys...

It was discounted from their Valentines collection to 90p! I bought two so I could make it longer.

I think this will be stashed away for summer BBQ's and future valentines days : )

My Katie Daisy Print arrived safe & sound.

It's on my hallway wall (My bedroom is the attic room) and makes me smile every time I see it.

A business card was included in the package, with one of her miniature prints on the back..so I decided to hang that up too.

A lovely reminder.

Something else I've been meaning to show you is a sign I made last summer. I had seen this famous quote floating about on the internet. It's a line from How I met your Mother...I thought it was really motivational and uplifting so I decided to recreate it myself....

I love how happy the yellow is!

I'm really into typography prints recently and can't help but look on Etsy to find others...I should really stop... I will run out of wall space otherwise!

Tomorrow is my sisters birthday so I am making her a Giant Cupcake for her birthday cake. It's the first time we've used the special mold for it so fingers crossed it will turn out okay.

Valentines in London

On Valentines day Ian had a day off so we decided to go into London. I have to admit we don't make the most of London, which is just a 45 minute tube ride away.

We forgot it was half-term (the usual museums would be full of children!!) so we went to the Tate modern art gallery as something to do.

St. Paul's Cathedral..

Opposite the Cathedral is the millennium bridge...

From the bridge (which used to shake way too much!!) you walk over the river Thames..

The Globe Theatre

The Tate modern art gallery was something to do but we both agreed we wouldn't rush back there again.

The art is what i'd say was 'interesting'...

We wouldn't call ourselves the most artistic of people so we couldn't really appreciate what some of the exhibits were trying to convey.

On our way back to the station we had a nose around a few streets and found an American Sandwich shop that we were addicted to when we were in Florida!

I was so happy to find one here and that they could cater for my allergy. It was weird being in there without having shorts and flip-flops on!

I hope your having a good week.

I'll be back soon with a little giveaway : )

A few things I'd like to say...

* * * ** * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * ** * * * * * * * * * * *

I wouldn't say I'm a huge TV person but I am really enjoying a lot of shows at the moment.

They are all American shows.

There doesn't seem to be ANY great English shows anymore...apart from  The inbetweeners.

You probably watch some of these already..but if you don't...

Big bang theory

How I met your mother

Modern family (my absolute favourite!!!)

New Girl

They are all fantastic shows but Modern Family is THE best. If you haven't seen it already you really should, everyone can relate to someone in that show.

Lost is an amazing series to watch if you have a lot of time on your hands..it will blow your mind.

It snowed again last night. Not as bad as last week but still a good coverage.
I am itching for Spring days.
I want to get outside and begin sowing seeds for Summer growing.
This year I am planning on doing a wall of Sweet Peas...i'm hoping it will look and smell great!
This wall...picture taken a few years back!

It will be so pretty!

What are your plans for Valentines Day?

I know a lot of people think of it as a commercialised day. It is essentially.

Over the years I've realised that I need things to look forward to. Not just Christmas and my birthday (which are both in the same month!).
So we are doing a little something to celebrate it. Not even sure what yet but we'll do something.
I'm going to do a little baking for Ian. He doesn't really read my blog so it's okay for me to share with you what I'm baking.

I got this cutter for Christmas.

I thought it would be perfect to use for the 'day of love'...I think it symbolises how we 'fit' together.

I found this shop on Etsy a year or so ago.

I finally ordered something from there!

I bought this print...

It is so pretty and happy.
I had a hard time choosing out of all of Katie Daisys beautiful prints.
They really make me want to draw and paint...
I'm now awaiting eagerly each time the postman comes along each day!

Snow day

As predicted we woke up to quite a thick dusting of snow.

I have to admit I turn in to a little girl when it snows.I'm super excited at the thought of making a snowman and then coming in from the cold all rosy cheeked and having a hot chocolate.

On went my wellies (which I have been living in since the snow came!) and out we went for a walk with my dog.

Red berries and snow just look gorgeous together....

After a walk and helping to clear the snow from our driveway, we had some fun with my brother and sister and built an igloo!!

It took forever. I couldn't feel my toes at one point so I gave up towards the end and went inside for some food. Ian persevered and finished it off.

He did a great job...

My dog was a little miffed at this big white thing suddenly in the garden. He sniffed at it a bit, barked at it a bit, ran at it a bit..and then gave up.

The surrounding  snow has now practically melted away. Fingers crossed Spring can now commence!

P.s - This is my 200th blog post..woohoo! Here's to another 200. A Giveaway to celebrate coming soon.

Baby it's cold outside...

It is absolutely freezing here at the moment. We've been in the minus numbers for a few days now and I just hate it! I really feel the cold and end up with aches in my legs from the cold in the evenings.

Last night I stayed over at Ian's and we ended up watching tv in bed because it was sooo cold.

A big cup of tea is a necessity on a cold night (and possibly something chocolaty too) so we made a quick dash downstairs. The cupboards were bare of anything chocolaty..but the freezer wasn't. A nice tub of ben and jerrys chocolate brownie awaited us.

We ended up back in bed...radiator and heater on..with a nice cup of tea..and a bowl full of chocolate ice cream!

Oh the irony...

I have to say it made me feel a lot better though : )

Snow has been forecast for Saturday night so who knows what we will wake up to on Sunday....

Happy Friday!
