My First Emma Bridgewater Piece

For our six year 'going out' anniversary, Ian bought me my VERY FIRST Emma Bridgewater piece! I chose a hearts mug as I knew it would get used most of all as i'm still living at home.

It's something I've wanted for a few years now but could never justify spending that much on a mug. This mug was from 'seconds' sale online and I am amazed at the condition of it. In my eyes there is nothing wrong with it, so I would definitely recommend saving some money and take advantage of the seconds sales.

I hope one day to build up a collection and to have them on display on a gorgeous dresser...one day...

So it's been snowing all day here. It is forecast to snow non stop for the whole weekend. It's frustrating as there were things I wanted to get done out of the house but a cosy snow weekend doesn't sound too bad does it? I'm thinking movies, cuddles, comfort food and crochet.

Happy Friday!

Something a little different.

As a lifestyle blogger I usually tend to subscribe to other lifestyle blogs, but recently I have found myself visiting beauty blogs and taking an interest in all things make up!

I wouldn't say I wear a lot of make up. Eye shadow, mascara, eye liner, some blush and something on my lips is about it. I feel better with a bit of lippy and some eye liner on, without it I just don't feel like me

These are some high street beauty/make-up products I asked for over Christmas and for me they seem to work really well, so I thought i'd share them with you!

Cheekmate by Soap & Glory was recommended to me by someone on instagram and I have to say it is amazing. A tiny blob will create a rosy healthy looking glow on your cheeks and it lasts all day. It only comes in one shade which at first I was worried about, but you can build up the colour to suit your skin tone.

I've wanted to try a balm stain for a while but never found a colour that suited my skin tone. This is Revlon 'Just bitten kissable' in Honey Douce. On the packaging it seems to be a subtle pinky peach but once applied it is a fairly deep pink. I wouldn't say it stains my lips all day, but it does last for 2-3 hours after being applied and leaves a faint colour.

I wanted a simple eye shadow palette to play around with as i'm rather new to blending and highlighting. These colours again are very me, I prefer natural earthy tones. This is Revlon Colourstay 'Attitude' which claims to stay on for 16 hours (I'm yet to test if it actually does!). I find that it's perfect for everyday, adding a little more of the dark brown shade for an evening transition.

Have you used these products before? What are your thoughts on them? I'd love to hear if you have any high street make up that you swear by!

Happy Wednesday!

My year : 2012

Around the last day of 2012 I saw a lot of people online mention that they were thankful that the year was nearly over. It got me thinking that 2012 had been a good year to me.

Although my Grandad sadly passed away back in June, throughout the rest of the year I have had some amazing experiences and had learnt new skills.

Some things that come to mind are:

Meeting new friends. Earlier this year I met up with bloggers for the first time ever. Although we knew each other online, we were really strangers to one another. I was so nervous at first but now we try and meet up regularly.

Learning to drive. It has been on my mind for so long but I managed to be brave (which was my word of 2012!) and I booked my lessons. I'm so thankful that I had a fantastic teacher and passed on my first test!

Ian & I had a helicopter tour over London. It was my first time in a helicopter and again I was nervous at first but once we were over the city it was amazing.

My first poor attempt!

My better second attempt!

I also learnt how to crochet. It all started out with a flower to make that came with Mollie Makes magazine. My first try at it was BAD! After that it suddenly clicked and my next try was much better. My SIL to be taught me the basics and from there i've made a giant granny blanket, jar votives and lots of scarves/snoods.

What sticks out in my mind mostly is getting engaged to Ian. Our first little holiday to Canterbury will always be a memory. I still look at my ring everyday and am dazzled by how sparkly it is!

So 2013 is here. It is scary to think what changes, good and bad, will come our away throughout the year. Fingers crossed it will be just as good as 2012 was!

Ian and I are doing an evening photography course over the next 10 weeks at a local college. It will be great to finally understand what everything on our camera does. I'm also starting a 'study at home' course in Interior Design which will result in a Diploma. It's something that's always interested me so it should be good. It will be so weird studying/going to college again!

Happy New Year!
