The Autumn Tag

All images via pinterest

I have noticed the Autumn tag doing its rounds on many blogs so I thought i'd join in. Autumn is my favourite season so this tag seemed really fun.
For Autumn, what is your...
1. Favourite thing about it? I really love feeling warm and cosy in a baggy jumper and scarf! I enjoy taking long walks where there is a pub at the end of it! Finding conkers and crunching leaves.
2. Favourite drink? Either tea or a hot chocolate with marshmallows. If it's the evening and i'm feeling naughty I might have a cheeky Baileys ; )

3. Favourite scent/candle? Perfume wise I love to wear Alien by Thierry Mugler. I love a simple vanilla candle.
4. Favourite thing to eat? I love anything warm and comforting. A roast dinner, A chili con carne, lasagna! If I want something sweet then it has to be homemade Cinnamon rolls...so good!
5. Go to moisturiser?  I love Olay and I always find it helps to stop my skin from drying out.

6. Go to make-up/nail polish colours? I love natural eye colours so always stick with browns and beiges. I love a darker nail at this time of year. A dark red is perfect!
7. Favourite music or band/singer to listen to? I admit to listening to the odd Christmas song now and then *hangs head in shame*! I just love that excited feeling it brings. If only there was Autumn music to listen too.
8. Favourite outfit to wear (i.e. boots & a scarf combo)? I love to wear my black skinnies with boots and a cute jumper or shirt.
9. Autumn treat? (i.e. a new scarf or bag you have your eye on) I have a crazy obsession with cosy looking scarves and socks every Autumn/Winter! I'd also love a new pair of boots.
10. Favourite place to be? Home! I love that feeling on a Friday night when you're in your PJ's, your candles are all lit, you've got something naughty to snack on and there is a good tv show/film on. Perfection!
Please join in if you'd like to and let me know as I love reading these : )

Couch to 5k Review : Weeks 1 - 4

Hi guys,

I thought it was about time to do a little update on me doing the Couch to 5k fitness program. So last time I spoke to you about it I was saying how much I struggled just doing week 1 where you are running for a minute at a time. Well I can proudly say I have come on in leaps and bounds since then.

Each week it has got harder...for example 90 seconds of running then 2 minutes of walking & repeat. Another week it's been 3 minutes of running, 90 seconds walking, 5 minutes of running....you get the picture!

I've found myself nervous before each new week and doubt that I can do it but I surprise myself each time. I'm finding that I'm less out of breath each time I run and my heart rate is settling down a lot faster than before!

These are my new best friends. So light weight and they make running feel 100x easier than normal trainers!

Tonight is the last run of Week 4. I am dreading Week 5 because the last run is a 20 minute non-stop one. I find this crazy as we will be going from 8 minutes to 20 minutes which is a HUGE leap. A lot of people on forums have said it is really hard but if you pace yourself you can do it....we shall see.

I hoped to do the 30 day shred on the rest days but as you can imagine we have just been aching and not been bothered to do it.

Weigh wise....I haven't weighed myself as I am trying not to focus on a number but I have been told by a few people that I look thinner! Yay! I am really happy about that considering my diet hasn't changed much at all. Fingers crossed that will continue...

Question! If you have done C25K, do you have any tips on the dreaded 20 minture run?

Fashion : Autumn Boots Favourites 2013

Every Autumn I love getting my boots out of storage. They are my favourite Autumn/Winter accessory as they are so easy to dress. Although I love my current boots they just aren't the 'perfect' pair to me. I am always looking out for new pairs that I can add to my 'wanties' list!

Next £80 /  New Look £59.99 / Clarks £79.99 / Tu £55

I can't decide if black or brown or tan are my favourite. One thing I am decided on is that it's flats all the way. Comfort over style any day of the week!

Anyway the above are some of the boots that have caught my eye recently. Can you guess which are my favourite? Surprisingly.... it's the TU (Yes - Sainsbury's) boots! They are 100% leather and at only £55 they are a steal. They come in a brown/tan shade also. These are definitely going on my Christmas list!

Which are your favourites? Black or brown? I'd love to know!

Cake & Bake Show 2013!

After hearing so much about the Cake and Bake Show last year I was so excited to be attending this years in Earls Court!  On Saturday we hoped on the tube and headed to the show. I didn't really know what to expect from it but I knew some of my favourite brands such as Sainsbury's and Dr. Oetker were showcasing there so it must be good.

The show wasn't as big as I imagined but it still took a lot of time to walk around and discover what it had to offer.

I really loved the Bonne Maman 'kitchen' set-up...it looked so homely!  I just wanted to go in there and make something yummy with their jams.

There were so many things to do there but unfortunately we couldn't spend the whole day there due to other commitments. Dr Oetker had a few demonstrations and I would of loved to take part in a Betty Crocker cake making class.

I had heard that brands gave away a lot of samples last year for people to take home and try but unfortunately this year there weren't many at all. I did manage to blag a Dr. Oetker vanilla extract which i'm looking forward to trying!

Something I loved was all the amazing cakes that were on show. They were literally pieces of art! I don't think I could bare to eat it if I made something as intricate as some of these cakes.

I love this simple style Wedding Cake!

The absolute highlight for me was meeting some of the Great British Bake Off contestants! I was lucky enough to be on the press list (who knew having a blog would mean you are part of the press?!) so I was allowed in the Press/media room where some of the contestants were! I must of been in my own little world as I didn't even notice them at first. Ian had to point them out to me!

I probably embarrassed myself but I couldn't see them without asking for a photo. There was a little bit of small talk and they seemed really lovely! I can imagine how crazy it must be for them to be recognised by so many people they don't know. Did any of you watch the Bake off last night? I was so sad to see Rob go! I really didn't expect it.

I hope you enjoyed reading about my time at the Cake & Bake show 2013! If you love to bake then I'd recommend going next year and making a day of it.

Positive Monday #7

Source

I'm literally buzzing from the fantastic weekend we have just had. It was lovely and relaxing but full of fun and was very productive. It also felt very Autumnal and cosy! Don't you just love it when the weekend is like that?

Five small but positive things from the weekend:

* Going to the Cake and Bake Show and meeting a few of the Great British Bake-off contestants! (more on that soon).

* Swooning at all the Christmas goodies on sale in the shops already. I love that Maltesers have introduced a Christmas version of the Malteaster bunny..it's called Merryteaser Reindeer! These are a favourite of mine!

* Lighting candles and turning on fairy lights whilst it's wet and windy outside.

* Baking yummy cupcakes.

* A slightly wet but refreshing walk on Sunday morning over some local fields. Perfect for a little kite flying!

A Heart Made Of Stone

Each time we go to the beach I always try to look out for heart shaped pebbles to bring home as a memento. We found a few last year when we went to Whitstable in Kent. They were perfect as we had just got engaged so they bring back happy memories.

We managed to find a few on the Isle Of Wight beaches. Some big some small. I absolutely love the big stone. I just had to have it as soon as I saw it. It would be lovely to put  in our garden. I'm not really sure what to do with the smaller stones but I'm sure I will come across something on Pinterest eventually.

Happy Friday!

Isle Of Wight

Our little trip to the Isle Of Wight was just what I needed. I felt the sand between my toes and the wind in my hair. I feel a little refreshed after doing lots of walking and lots of relaxing in the sunshine.

We spent almost every afternoon on this beach. I haven't spent much time at a sandy beach before so this was novel to me. I took a little paddle in the sea and investigated in rock pools.

We visited Carisbrooke Castle....

We went to see the Needles..

Visited a model village...

And lots lots more. We visited a garlic farm, played adventure golf, walked some of the coast line and back (that was hard!), went to Shanklin Chine in the dark and looked around the shops. Out of everything we did I definitely enjoyed the beach the most. We were so lucky to have gorgeous weather. I'd definitely recommend Shanklin in September. Slightly out of season so it's fairly quiet along with September sunshine...perfect!

I'm still playing catch up so if you commented I will get back to you in the next day or so. I reply to comments in the comment box on each blog post so please do check back.

Coming Home

Sparrow Primitives Home Blocks , Next Little House Light , Marks And Spencer Candle & Throw

I am back after a lovely break away to the Isle Of Wight. I didn't have particularly high hopes for the weather but we were blessed with beautiful sunshine all week long. I am a little sun kissed after long walks along the sandy beaches in Shanklin but I am now so ready for Autumn and cosy nights in at home! I love looking at what is new in the shops and the above caught my eye! The Vanilla and Oatmeal candle especially sounds good. I might have to pop into Marks and have a sniff!

I'll be back soon to share some pictures from our holiday so keep your eyes peeled!

Are you looking forward to Autumn? Have you lit any candles yet?
