Maybelline's Superstay 7 Day Nail Varnish Review

Today I wanted to share a new found favourite nail polish of mine. I'm probably totally late in discovering this but it is so good so I just had to share.

Maybelline's Superstay 7 days is my new favourite! I found it to be extremely long lasting with only a few tiny chips at the tips of my nails on day 7. So impressive! The polish applies smoothly, dries fairly quickly and with two coats you will have beautifully even and shiny nail colour.

I'm hoping they release some new colours soon so I can build a little collection on these beauties!

Have you tried this range? Are there any other long lasting nail varnishes you can recommend?

Life Lately

Good morning! Sorry to have not been around much. I had a long busy week but as always the weekend came around in the blink of an eye. The weekend was probably one of the best we've had in a long while! The weather was mostly bright and cheery, we spent lots of time laughing, being out & about and eating with family. Some of the things I really enjoyed were...

... seeing Jimmy Carr live on Friday night. We have seen him before and yet again it was fantastic. We sat three rows back so I was a little nervous that he might pick on me but it was perfectly fine. As you can imagine is was extremely crude but very funny with lots of heckling with the audience! My face hurt the next day from all the fun we had : )

... a relaxing Saturday. We spent the day having a look around the shops, drinking tea and playing a little Lego Marvel on the Xbox (who doesn't love those games?!) Later in the evening we went out for dinner to celebrate my sister's birthday.

... learning on Sunday. We visited Hampton Court Palace, the home of Henry the 8th and William the 3rd. It was great to soak up a little culture and learn all about this history behind the Palace. We took a ton of photos as it was beautiful inside.

The architecture & interior design was breathtaking. If you ever get a chance to visit, make sure that you go into the great hall.

There was so much to look at inside and out. We spent the majority of the day there but there was still so much to see & do.

Overall it was a fab weekend! Now that Spring is finally here I feel like I want to be outside more enjoying the sunshine. I can't wait to start going for long walks and having picnics! Exciting :)

How was your weekend? Did you do anything fun?

Home Accessory Favourites

Something I love about the a new season is all the new things in the shops. Now of course I love clothes but what I love even more is something new for my bedroom or for when we get our first home. I've been eyeing up Sainsbury's Home collection the most so far this year & thought i'd share some of the bits that have caught my eye with you.

I really like the calm neutral colours and that instant shabby/ country chic feel it can bring to any room. Most items seem reasonably priced too!

What's your favourite from my choices above? Where do you love to shop for home accessories?

Valentines Day Inspiration

With a week until Valentines Day I thought I would share some of the pretty pictures I came across on Pinterest. We don't really do anything particular to celebrate Valentines Day but I like to decorate with pretty hearts and bake something heart themed for Ian.

These are really simple and cheap ways to decorate for the day of love. You could even cut red & pink card into heart shapes for the tree. Simply use a hole punch to make a hole and thread some pretty string to hang it from. I really want to find the perfect branch to make one of those trees. They are perfect to decorate for all seasons!

The Pleated Poppy - Love Laughter & Decor

Last year I baked some cookies and decorated them using piped Royal Icing. They didn't come out as cute as these look but they are definitely something to aspire to! If baking isn't your thing then you can always use a cookie cutter to make other food love themed. I'm thinking something as simple pancakes or like those yummy potatoes with your dinner.

I think Valentines Day shouldn't be about expensive gifts and lavish nights out. I like to keep it simple (and relatively cheap!) with a small gesture. I love the little love vouchers. You could be really creative with them. Ian loves it when I tickle his back so I think a few vouchers for that would go down well!

Remember that Valentines Day is a day of showing love to everyone in your life. Why not buy some flowers for your mum, your sister or your best friend? Many supermarkets are selling a bunch on Daffodils for only £1.

Hopefully you feel a little more inspired to do something small on Valentines day. Remember it's a week today!

Happy Friday : )

Oqibo Skin Refining Exfoliator Review

A week or so ago I was contacted by Oqibo to see if I would like to review a product of theirs. As soon as I read their message I knew I was in good hands. Beth from Oqibo asked me all about my skin type and recommended that I try out their Skin Refining Exfoliator*. I wouldn't say my skin is in a terrible state but I do suffer from bumpy skin on my forehead and the odd breakout on my t-zone.

When my little care package arrived, it came with such a lovely personal letter and some other samples for me to try out. The Skin Refining Exfoliator comes in a 50ml squeezable tube. The packaging is a very elegant and simple white with black lettering. Oqibo claim that the exfoliator will remineralise, hydrate and remove any dull and drab surface skin cells. The directions say to apply 2 times a week to exfoliate or once a week as an intensive treatment mask. Something I found particularly interesting was the instruction to massage into the skin for 1-2 minutes. I usually exfoliate for 30 seconds max : / That's probably why my skin has been feeling so drab.

The product has a light floral fragrance. I tend to dislike anything that is overpoweringly floral but Oqibo have found a happy medium.
I love a really 'grainy' textured face scrub as it makes me feel that it is actually loosening dead skin instead of just smoothing it. Although the Skin Refining Exfoliator isn't as textured as I had hoped, it is definitely better than others I have tried.

All in all the results were good. My skin has felt a lot cleaner and smoother than normal and the imperfections on my t-zone don't seem as obvious. I still have that bumpy feeling on my forehead but I think after using the product for a few more weeks it will feel a lot better. The Skin Refining Exfoliator is on the pricey side retailing at £23.95 for 50ml, however it has had a lot of glowing reviews so many feel it is worth it!

Thank you Oqibo!

Weekend Catch-Up

Although I love how fast the weekend comes around, Monday seems to always be looming! I am lucky to have Monday at home to work on my personal ventures but I always feel sad that the weekend frolics are over.

We had a pretty relaxed weekend doing some shopping, a little baking, some chores and just spending quality time together. I got this really cute jumper from New Look. I need a few more bits to wear at work and this is caught my eye. It's very simple with lace detail on the shoulders.

After a little shopping we headed to a pub for a quiet drink. We were lucky as it was completely empty and managed to bag comfy seats next to the open fire. We stayed for ages just chatting about our plans for the future and staring into those beautiful dancing flames.

We also made some beautiful bread for lunch. I enjoy watching recipe videos on Youtube and one of my favourites is Laura Vitale. She recently shared a baguette recipe and although ours didn't come out quite looking like a baguette (we didn't have the pan that shapes it), it was so good! Crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. I think we will be making it again.

I hope you had a great weekend. This week is going to be a busy one with the rest of my time spent at work work. Boo!

Quiet But Busy!

Hello and happy February! This is just a quick blog to apologise for my lack of posting recently. I have been working at my new job and any days off are spent focusing on my business and studying. As you can imagine I have been fairly tired! I'm finding my feet and trying to balance everything, so please bare with me : ) I'm trying to organise my time better and am going to dedicate some time to get some blog posts scheduled for the week.

I'll be back very soon!
