Friday Pizza Night!

At the weekend we like to indulge a little more and treat ourselves to some naughty food. It's so easy to just order a pizza to be delivered, they are undeniably yummy but after two or three (or four...) slices I feel so yucky! These days we try and make our own homemade pizza as it's much healthier and cheaper.

On Friday afternoon I had the forethought to whip up some pizza dough which was well risen in time for dinner time. We made our own sauce. Just a can of tomatoes, oregano , some ketchup, a dash of sugar, salt, pepper and a little smoked paprika. Simmer until reduced and thick.

We kept it simple and made a Hawaiian using left over pineapple and ham from the fridge. A light sprinkle of cheese on top and in the oven it went for 10-15 minutes.

If you fancy making your own pizza here is are a few tips:

- Try and purchase a pizza stone. They are really cheap & improve the crust immensely!

- Add a little Semolina to your dough and on the pizza stone for an authentic flavour.

- Make the most of your freezer! Pizza dough freezes really well and so does the sauce. Make a double batch of both. Once the dough as risen, divide it up into individual portions and freeze.

- Use up your leftovers. Anything goes with pizza!

I'm trying to find the perfect dough recipe. I would love to make a soft doughy crust with those large holes (just like the takeaway places).

Can anyone recommend a recipe/technique for me to try?

Comfy Shoes For The Summer

Image via TOMS.com

Meet my new TOMS...my shoe of choice for this summer. I have been looking for something light, comfy and fairly versatile for a while now but nothing in the shops have caught my eye. The other week I spotted a colleague looking super cute in these TOMS and I just knew I had to have them.

These canvas slip on shoes come in an array of colours and designs so it was a hard choice. In the end I decided a darker colour is more forgiving when it comes to outdoor adventures. These are classic slip ons in 'Ash'. At first I had to stretch them out a little by wearing them with socks on around the house. They are now soo comfy! The suede insole make these shoes feel like you are walking around in your slippers (always a bonus).

These were £34.99 but so far they seem worth every penny. The part is for every pair bought, TOMS will donate a new pair of shoes to a child in need.

A Little Week Day Bakin'

Sorry for the lack of updates recently. Life (more specifically work) has taken over and I had started to feel a little uninspired to blog. We had a lovely week. From going over to a friends house for a delicious steak & movie night, to birthday celebrations galore, we have been fairly busy!

I also had an unexpected day at home with my mum. We had a little baking session....I think she's feeling all inspired by Mary Berry's recent TV show. I tend to bake all by myself usually so it was nice to spend some time with her whilst we baked to our hearts content.

We decided to make a Banana cake and a Victoria sponge. I love all sorts of bakes, but sometimes you can't beat a classic Victoria sponge cake. Light and airy with a layer of jam and freshly whipped cream, what's not to like?

This particular Victoria Sponge recipe is from Mary Berry. I really recommend it as it is so easy to make and it tastes delicious.

Happy Saturday : )

Bourjois CC Cream Review

So i've been using the Bourjois CC cream for a week or so now and as promised I thought i'd post a little review on it. I have relatively clear skin with the odd blemish so I don't tend to use foundations. I personally find them to be so heavy and I hate that 'cakey' feeling. I have heard so much about this new CC cream so had to give it a go.

The Bourjois CC cream is so light! It applies very easily, almost like a moisturiser. It's nice and quick to put on in the morning with your finger tips. It hides any redness or scars that I may have. I wouldn't say it gives you that 'airbrushed' flawless look but it definitely gives me a smooth complexion and that illuminating glow that is so sought after.

Overall I am in love with this Bourjois CC cream! I think it's great for anyone that wants to hide blemishes yet still have a natural glow. It lasts all day long and as it's oil free you don't get that oily feeling mid afternoon like some other BB/CC creams. As it has SPF 15 it is also perfect for this time of year when the sun is starting to come out of hiding : )

Bourjois CC cream retails at £9.99 and comes in 4 different shades. A little goes a long way so it is definitely worth it!

Have you tried this CC cream? What else can you recommend from Bourjois? This is my first time using their products so i'm keen to know what other goodies they have : )
